Review of Carbotech Bobcats

I got my Carbotech Bobcat brake pads (front) in about 2 weeks ago. Got them for a killer deal with a pair of rotors. They're not Brembos, but for the price, who can argue with (almost) free rotors?

I bedded them as per the instructions and let them sit for the evening. My previous brake setup had Brembo x-drilled/slotted with Metalmaster Axxis pads. I also have stainless steel brake lines. Cold stops are excellent, with very progressive modulation. No squeeling. Very little dust. I'm frankly a little surprised that I don't have more dust over the past couple weeks.

Stopping after the car is warmed is even better. I've noticed that the initial braking is fairly immediate. There's a little bit of a taper as far as the braking power. This is remedied with just a little bit more braking force on the pedal. They really haul the car down at freeway speeds. The first several days, I noticed I stopped about 1/2 - 1 car-length shorter than I expected to stop.

Overall, I love the pads. For cheaper, I could have purchased a set of Axxis Ultimates, but then again, I wouldn't have gotten the free rotors! Supposedly though, people who have had both the Ultimates and the Bobcats like the Bobcats better at higher speeds (slower speeds being about equal performance).

I will ad to your review since I did my first Autocross on them this past weekend. I did at least 10 runs almost back to back with no fade at all. I have never had them fade on me even when I have done repeated stops from over 100mph. I have run Axxis metalmaster pads in the past and hated them. I absolutely love the Bobcats pads and will be buying another set when these wear out.

cool, i've been thinking about pads myself,
need something to go with my new brembo blanks(collecting dust under my bed currently..)

was prettymuch decided on the hawk hps pads,
cuz I've heard mixed reviews of axxis,
bobcats I was looking at too and only heard good things, but so few reviews I was wary.

Sound alot better now though..

anyone use them on the track? Thats what i'm worried about, getting out to the track and having to pull over to let my brakes cool.(stock cx brakes )

They have other compounds available that are more agressive for the track than the bobcats. You sound like you could use the Panther Plus pads. Give them a call and they can give you all the info you need.
